Why a Healthcare Assistant CV is different
A Healthcare Assistant CV is read against very different signals to a generic CV in the UK. Care Certificate, manual handling, dementia training get hidden away. Your real ward experience gets reduced to 'helped patients'. You're up against dozens of applicants. Six seconds to stand out.
Sausage Dog leads with Care Certificate, manual handling, mandatory training, the things ward managers scan. Uses real ward language: personal care, observations, escalation, dignity, infection control. Rewrites bullets around patient care, teamwork and ward experience.

What 147 live HCA adverts told us about the job-board market
We pulled 147 live healthcare assistant adverts from a major UK job board in July 2026 and counted what they ask for. The biggest finding is where the jobs actually are: 54% mention a care home or nursing home and 37% are agency or bank work, while the NHS is named in just 3%. NHS Trusts advertise HCA posts on NHS Jobs and Trac, not job boards. So a job-board HCA CV is competing for care-home and agency shifts, and NHS-style language ("Band 2", "ward experience") barely registers there: band grades appear in 3% of these adverts and wards in 1%.
What does register is hands-on care vocabulary and paper qualifications. Personal care appears in 45% of adverts, an NVQ or Level 2/3 qualification in 36%, and dementia in 24%. Pay is hourly in over half. The strongest opening line for this market names your qualification level, your settings and your availability in one breath: "NVQ Level 2 qualified HCA with three years in dementia and end-of-life care, available for days, nights and alternate weekends."
One more number worth knowing: the median HCA advert in our data had just 3 applications. Combined with a receptionist advert sitting on 45, healthcare assistant roles are among the least competitive jobs on UK job boards. A CV that speaks the language above is often one of a handful in the pile, not one of fifty.

Frequently asked
How does Sausage Dog tailor a healthcare assistant CV?+
Sausage Dog reads the healthcare assistant job description you paste in, identifies the keywords, responsibilities, and qualifications it asks for, then rewrites your existing CV to mirror that language while keeping every fact in your real experience intact. The result is an ATS-friendly CV in under a minute.
Is the output ATS-friendly for healthcare assistant roles?+
Yes. The tailored CV uses plain formatting, mirrors the exact keywords in the job description, and keeps section headings (Experience, Education, Skills) that applicant tracking systems are built to parse. No tables, columns, or fancy headers that break ATS scans.
Will the rewritten healthcare assistant CV still sound like me?+
That is the whole point. Sausage Dog rewrites your real bullet points in your tone, not corporate jargon. It does not invent qualifications or experience you do not have, it just sharpens what is already there for the specific healthcare assistant role.
Is it free to tailor a healthcare assistant CV?+
Yes. You can tailor three CVs per day on the free tier with no card needed. Premium (拢9.99/month) gives unlimited tailoring plus cover letters, interview prep, and LinkedIn rewrites for the same role.
